The $30 cable was glass optical fiber, and the $70 Monster was plastic
fiber, so obviously they weren't identical. I am well aware of Monster
Cable's huge markups. That's why I was actually expecting the cheaper
glass fiber cable to sound better, but to my ears, they sounded
identical. Yet I can change analog interconnects, and readily hear
differences. This is on a very revealing system, with a Dodson DAC and
output to AKG K1000 headphones. The K1000's are a virtual microscope
for detecting even tiny audio changes.

My overall point is that if there are differences in the performance of
my digital cables, those differences are so subtle that I can't hear
them, in which case, I don't, and shouldn't, care about them.
