The $30 cable was glass optical fiber, and the $70 Monster was plastic fiber, so obviously they weren't identical. I am well aware of Monster Cable's huge markups. That's why I was actually expecting the cheaper glass fiber cable to sound better, but to my ears, they sounded identical. Yet I can change analog interconnects, and readily hear differences. This is on a very revealing system, with a Dodson DAC and output to AKG K1000 headphones. The K1000's are a virtual microscope for detecting even tiny audio changes.
My overall point is that if there are differences in the performance of my digital cables, those differences are so subtle that I can't hear them, in which case, I don't, and shouldn't, care about them. -- TiredLegs ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TiredLegs's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=6201 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=29353 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
