JohnnyLightOn, This is exactly the reason why you need DRC. It will compensate for the error due to poor speaker placement and the most striking thing you will notice is soundstage.
There are many ways you can set up DRC, see here http://www.duffroomcorrection.com/wiki/Main_Page But being a SB owner, Inguz software will probably be the easiest and cheapest for you. There is also another program thay can generate the convolution files for you.
