It's just occurred to me that the one test you haven't run is to feed
the NAD directly from the SB analogue output. This eliminates the
Yamaha entirely from the equation. If by doing this, you get the same
bad sound, then the SB DAC is implicated. If you get good sound, then
something in the Yamaha is implicated.
