If you come to the audiophile forum, expect a little insanity ;) What is lifestyle? Why not get a pair of old Quad ESLs (£400 on ebay) and a little valve amp? Or even a Sonic Impact T-amp while you save up?
For a bit more sanity, what about a pair of LS3/5As? Small and lovely, you could paint them white.
