I also have a room that needs help. Using the inguz plugin helped me a lot.
One of the things I'm planning now is to get some 1" owens corning 705, wrap it in black fabric, hang it on the wall, and cover it with a decent looking kilim. This will look ok, and also help even further (of course, I'll need to re-measure).
