I think you are expecting all responses to a topic to be of a specific
nature, and that you are not accounting for the variety of ways in
people express their opinions.  Some are confrontational and say
"you're full of c**p" and others express themselves more eloquently,
often indirectly, by presenting a scenario that may shed some new light
on the topic at hand.  Sometimes it is funny and sometimes it may even
rhyme.

It is possible that someone doesn't see the connection between the
topic at hand and the indirect response to it because that particular
reader may lack the intellectual capacity to make the connection.  It
is similar to the way some people don't hear a difference between two
cables because they are deficient in training, talent, hearing acuity,
or have too inexpensive a system to resolve the difference that others
claim exists.  Audiophile forums are populated mainly by highly
intelligent people with discriminating tastes and excellent finances
(just ask them!), so it should be no surprise that they communicate on
higher levels than the average Joe.
