Rip everything to a lossless format. Chances are if you are participating on an audiophile thread, hard disk space financial considerations won't be a problem, given that the lossless format is significantly hungrier for hard disk sectors than compressed formats. With a lossless library, you can easily convert to lossy (MP3,AAC etc) for portable requirements, at whichever bit rate is desired, yet have the full lossless library ready for the SB3/Transporter to pacify your ears.
