No offense, but I owned a Lex MC-1 for many years. It's 2 channel
audio quality is not its' strong suite (Logic7 is). Anyway, I dont
understand your comment about the MC-1 not needing to do D/A with
analog inputs. It's an all-digital pre/pro, so not only does it always
do a D/A but with analog inputs it does an addtl A/D then D/A (unless
you rig up a config that you run it through Zone 2 and use some
switchbox or something like Shawn Fogg recommended). Furthermore, the
D/A in the MC-1 is not a good musical path, and has been overwhelmingly
reviewed as such. Don't get me wrong, the MC-1 is a major kick-ass
surround processor, and Logic7 remains the penultimate 7.1 surround
methodolgy; music surround is fun, too, but not a clean audiophile
solution. It's just not going to do your Slim Devices rig(s) any
favors in keeping a 2 channel analog (or digital for that matter)
signal pure and clean. Get a simple 2 channel preamp with a HT bypass
(so the Lex can still coexist). Either of your Slim Device decisions
will sound much much better.
