I own a dCS DAC (dCS 955 + 972 upsampler + wordclock). I planned to changed my transport and was naturally intersted in the dCS Verdi.
The Transporter could be an interesting alternative but is it worthwhile facing a Verdi. Has anyone tested the Transporter with a dCS DAC? Any opinion? The Transporter is not just an alternative of the Verdi, it's a different way to listen to music. It's not transporter vs verdi, it's transporter/computer with big hdds(orNAS)and be careful to make a backup vs Verdi. It depends also on the number of cds you have: if you have < 500 cds it's not too long to rip them, but if you have >3000 it's not the same work. A friend was very impressed with my Squeezebox (and the TP seems to be better) but there's no way he will rip his 6000 cds. He works a lot, so when he comes home he puts a cd in the player and enjoys. My case is different, i have lots of downloaded music, so the work could have been to put them onto discs, and i have not ripped my 1400 cds yet.
