Its just a SMAP.
Small matter of Programming.

The remote can send commands to the Server. The authoritative source
says that the server will/could/may be able to do the switch.
So its a SMAP to pick a command, call the right routine, and a miracle
occurs.

Yes, its hard to switch data that has already left the building.

The next logical step would be to toggle the switch by tune/track/song
and have the database record the desired state.
