Been away for the Xmas break, and just saw this thread.

Can I make a plea to SlimDevices that they do NOT change the current
balanced output level? It does what it's supposed to do - delivers a
balanced signal at a level appropriate for professional balanced
inputs.

As it happens, in my system (which has balanced amps with an unusually
high input sensitivity of 1V) I need about 12dB of passive attenuation,
so reducing the output level would make my life a little bit easier (no
passive attenuation required). But for those others using balanced amps
with more common (lower) input sensitivities, reducing the output level
would require the addition of active gain, and that is far, far more
undesirable (because it will almost certainly degrade the sound
quality) than my needing to use a bit of passive attenuation.

The solution for Kiep is simple: either use the unbalanced outputs, or
add some passive attenuation.

Performers -> dozens of mixers and effects -> clipped/hypercompressed
mastering -> you think a few extra ps of jitter matters?
