I would think if the input level is only 1.0v you'd be a little too hot. The input level on my amp is 1.5v, which I also thought would be a little hot matched up with the 3.0v of the Transporter. With the volume muted I proceeded with caution and hooked up the TP to the balanced inputs. Guess what? Worked without a problem!
I decided to hook some un-balanced cables as well as S/PDIF cable. When I compared the respective levels of all the cables (output types), both un-bal and S/PDIF were essentially the same.
