I also have a 4B SST and just run my stock SB3 into the RCA inputs. With my speaker/room combo, running the Bryston gain setting at 2V gives me a perfect max listening level. Also, I view it as a safety factor for my speakers should the SB go AWOL and max out at full scale volume. That 6dB difference in gain between 1V and 2V setting is equivalent to 1/4 the power!
