Do the opposite of what you were planning and you should be fine.

I.e. reduce the integrated's volume so the SB can be used at it's upper
limit, and can in fact be on max volume without blowing your speakers.
If you want to get the most of SB (critical listening), digital volume
goes on 100, no 'preamp attenuation', no replaygain, and all
adjustments to volume done with the integrated. Don't feel bad, four
volume controls can be hard to get figured :-)

I wouldn't recommend 'preamp volume control' which is set in
slimserver>audio, AND the digital volume on the remote as they are two
different attenuation mechanisms, but I do use digital attenuation
daily even though I have an integrated. If the integrated had a remote
control I wouldn't use the SB volume. YMMV etc.
