Even though I run my SB3 off batteries, I'm of the opinion that it is probably not worth it to go to great lengths with regards to an external replacement power supply (my battery goes into an off-the-shelf regulator). The reason being all that goes on inside the SB3, with generation of higher tension supplies etc. (Obviously my opinion on this is biased by Seans knowledge and statements about this.) Having said that, a simple thing such as adding SST to the supply plug did transform the analogue output sound from the SB3. I guess my current thinking is that if the power supply has enough low impedance power (a bank of well chosen capacitance) and does not spew out noise, and does not contribute to unwanted loops (ground or otherwise), one should be set. If the SB3 has too little local decoupling, it should probably be modified right where it helps the most (on-board). If you do build the super regulator I'd be interested to know what your findings are, though! ;-) -- P Floding ------------------------------------------------------------------------ P Floding's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2932 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=31758 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
