Hi Mick W, Your experience is similar to mine, especially regarding the heat and audible hum from the linear supply. I truly hate hum and buzz, including mechanical buzz from components. In my system, the linear power supply (Elpac) sounded WORSE than the stock SB3 power supply. Especially the bass became weak and empty with the linear supply, and was nice and restored with the stock supply. The mids/highs seemed identical to me with either supply. So for me, the linear supply is out, and the stock supply is back in. Much better!
