I agree that no one knows (or cares, probably) what Madonna or 50 cent
"really sound like".  However, there are a lot of other musical genres
out there beyond classical that fans can appreciate "the naked sound of
the human voice, or of a piano", that a good audio system can really
help deepen the musical enjoyment.  Acoustic blues, jazz, world-music,
"unplugged" rock, bluegrass, folk, etc...
