I've been using a Plextor PX-230A and it is by far the best drive I've been using for ripping. I've got two computers each with two drives going ripping usig EAC. The DVD drives are very slow, managing about 2x on secure mode and frequently have problems with the last tack on a cd. The plextor tears along at between 6 to 10x on secure mode and can manage the tricky tracks although some cd'd have defeated both types of drives. If you have a lot of CD's to do, get the Plextor.
