I am not very familiar with the Lavry, so I am assuming here its volume
control is in the digital domain and not analog. Assuming its volume is
digital, yes, I would suggest maxing the DAC volume too and use the
integrated amp control.

The rationale is if you have an integrated amp, then do all volume
control on the integrated amp, as this influences both the noise floor
and the signal at the same time, while digital domain volume changes
impact only the signal and thus may negatively impact SNR depending on
the details of the DAC and how low you go on the volume control.

If you can't change the integrated amp remotely, you can compromise by
setting the integrated amp high enough and using the digital volume
control only for regular listening needs, but try to keep it 20dB of
full scale.
