I am not very familiar with the Lavry, so I am assuming here its volume control is in the digital domain and not analog. Assuming its volume is digital, yes, I would suggest maxing the DAC volume too and use the integrated amp control.
The rationale is if you have an integrated amp, then do all volume control on the integrated amp, as this influences both the noise floor and the signal at the same time, while digital domain volume changes impact only the signal and thus may negatively impact SNR depending on the details of the DAC and how low you go on the volume control. If you can't change the integrated amp remotely, you can compromise by setting the integrated amp high enough and using the digital volume control only for regular listening needs, but try to keep it 20dB of full scale. -- Eric Carroll Transporter-Bryston 3B SST-Paradigm Reference Studio 60 v.4 SB3-Rotel RB890-B&W Matrix 805 SB3-Pioneer VSX-49TXi-Mirage OM7+C2+R2 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eric Carroll's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9293 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32929 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
