AFAIK, WMP only recognizes HDCD data from an actual CD, not from WAV
files. However if the HDCD information has been retained in your files,
you can burn the WAVs or FLACs to a CD-R/RW, and then re-rip with WMP
with the Chronotron WAV plugin enabled, and speaker output set to 24
bit. If the HDCD information has been preserved, the HDCD logo should
show up in WMP.

I have been looking for a Virtual CD-R drive to sidestep the actual
burn step by burning to an image, but the only 2 pieces of software I
found Original CD Emulator ( http://www.ztekware.com/ ) and Noteburner
( http://www.noteburner.com/ ) didn't work as I had expected. However,
I have included the links because someone else might be able to get
them to work, and the 2nd software actually has another useful benefit
- the ability to get around lots of pesky DRM.

I was about to ask the same question...
