It does look like Microsoft is doing their best NOT to promote it.

Skunk has a point, there are still devices being made that can decode
HDCD - for example, my Marantz SR8400 receiver supports it.  Its
successor the 8500 did as well and the current 8001 still does.

However are there still HDCD discs being made?  They definitely do not
promote them - I've never seen an HDCD logo on the back of a CD, and
there are very few websites devoted to lists of HDCD discs.

Microsoft seems to want it to quietly die off.
