Not sure if it's me you're asking... That's a good question, I've never tried it. As Phil said, there's no reason it shouldn't. Even my cheap DVD player has bit-accurate output and outputs HDCD fine, despite it not supporting it on the box. I suppose you could record it digitally using a 24-bit soundcard? I don't have such a card. I thought I did, an M-Audio Revolution 7.1, but that doesn't have digital in. I'm not sure what you'd gain by this though? The output from an SB playing back an HDCD file in 16-bit format would be identical. AFAIK this is just a bit-perfect pass-through, the receiver's digital output does not go through the HDCD decoder first, that only happens on playback. The digital output is essentially connected to the active digital input electrically, that's all. -- Mark Lanctot "It's like, you know, a New Age religion, but with better treble response." - Jon Heal ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32967 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
