In the context of my previous post, I was thinking that the difference
test would entail measuring signals before they reached the speakers,
so no microphones would be involved.  Regardless, I do accept the
general notion that the sensitivity of the measurement equipment will
limit what differences it can discern.

As a practical matter though, I would think that there are
oscilloscopes and the like that can measure to a precision that one can
reasonably assume is sensitive enough to say that there are "no"
differences.  However, I must admit that I am out of my league here, as
I am approaching this more as a logician than an engineer, lol.
