taking a slightly different cut at it, with 802.11 you will get higher bandwidth and error free transmission - but you will have to go through the A->D to D->A. With FM transmission you avoid that but are subject to many different sources of interference. So, if you are starting with a high quality source or a digital source, the 802.11 route may be better. On the other hand, if it is a lower quality source and you are not experiencing interference and/or noise now, the FM route will be satisfactory.
