OK, well, for starters we don't know whether processing load (defined
somehow) is higher for FLAC.  The CPU has many tasks to perform related
to TCP/IP, and with WAV there is approximately twice as much information
being transmitted.  Furthermore, while we're on the subject, the
wireless card itself will generate electrical noise, and presumably
more of it for WAV.  As for processing the sound files, both WAV and
FLAC require CPU activity, and the CPU is never idle, as it's busy
generating the display, performing housekeeping tasks etc.  Finally, I
suspect the FLAC decoding is done in chunks rather than continuously,
although I have no idea at what interval.  That would mean any sound
degradation would occur periodically rather than continuously.

So why, for example, are people obsessed with this and not concerned
that wireless sounds worse than wired?
