If it helps, I could generate a couple of files with my script for those that aren't on Linux, for anybody that wants to test. I think I could use something from Magnatune under the not-for-profit license without infringing anybody's copyright. I could confirm with them by e-mail, I expect. I'm actually quite interested to see if there is a correlation between the ability to hear a difference and the quality (or price?) of the equipment used. Perhaps at the high bitrates I'm using there is a lower bound on fidelity at which differences can be heard?
