I have not read this whole thread but since I sell the Benchmark, Lavry DA10 and Transporter, and having previously owned a the Trivista 21 I feel I am in a better place to comment than most.
My pick of the bunch, if connected directly to a power amp, the Transporter by a long shot, connect via a preamp, the Lavry and Transporter come out pretty much the same. The Trivista 21 is one of the poorest sounding and sterile DAC's I have ever heard, I sold mine quite quickly after getting it, was happy to see it go.
