It depends on the music. 50-55% is pretty rare, but possible on simple pieces. Oddly enough, the music that I find the most obvious to have artifacts with mp3 (solo piano pieces) seem to compress very well with flac. Complex pieces, where detail is less likely to be noticed don't compress as well.
