My literary vagueness was indeed indicative of the fact that I have in
no way exhausted the possibilities of getting really good computer
sound - my computer is now in my main listening room, so I almost never
really use it for music anyway.  It's good to know that you can get
decent sound quality from a soundcard: this will be useful once I move
out of London and have a few more rooms!
