Many people prefer the look of the SB+ (me, for example!). The Transport is rather, ahem, industrial-looking. Not much of a problem for me as it's sitting in a rather untidy room full of other equipment (computers, guitars, amps, etc.). I've not heard it so can't comment on sound quality but, based on what I know about the internals of the SB+ and the Transporter, they should be at least in the same ballpark.
