Antipodes, I have to say your strong stance against, and failure to understand, the most basic principles of science leads me to question your effectiveness as an EE. If I were troubleshooting a circuit and threw up my hands at some point and declared "EE models can not explain this!" and just gave up, I'd frankly consider myself a poor designer.
So, when somebody comes up with a new theory about how, say, firmware v15 was the best ever and sounds strikingly different from more recent versions, do you think it is unreasonable for someone to challenge them? To say "prove it"? Do you think that subjective tests are incompatible with science? What is wrong with blind testing? What could possibly be wrong with trusting your ears, if you are that confident that they can hear things which EE can't explain? You could contribute very meaningfully to the field if you can indeed hear things that our current theories can't explain.
