Are you using the balanced or RCA outputs? You're saying you hear the signal becoming distorted when you turn the TP volume up close to max? Does that happen no matter what is the volume setting on your integrated amp? If the answer is yes, it means your TP is defective - there's no way turning up a digital volume could result in increased distortion unless something is malfunctioning. On the contrary, the best practice to maximize sound quality is to fix the TP volume on max and use the analogue volume control on the amp. If the answer is no (the level of distortion depends on the volume setting on the amp), it means your amps are clipping when fed a max level signal from the TP - which is also odd, since you say the volume is barely enough for normal listening at that point.
