Very happy with the Transporter, agree with you with the brand issue (why did they not keep "Slimdevices" - it was innovative and interesting - this will come back and bite them hard). I did not use the cd ripping facility of Ripcaster. My suggestion is for you to call them directly (I found speaking with Jon Nelson very useful) - he might be able to help you with some of your concerns (quality and all).
