There's already a free offering that can address both your remote control and headphone jack concerns at the same time... http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.cgi?IRBlaster Use the "headphone" jack for a $7 IR blaster device and configure the IR Blaster plugin so that the SB3 will have a fixed volume, and will send volume up/down (and power on/off, if you want) commands to the amp.
