Well fellas, it's been almost a month since my last post. All this time I've been sourcing parts for my project. The hardest part to find was the 20 pin FPC cable for the display. It arrived yesterday.
I have put all the pieces together for the initial test. It's looking pretty good methinks. The front panel is only a prototype I built. I'm having the display cutout done by Front Panel Express. It should arrive next week. In the meantime, this one has let me experiment with different display colors. I settled for a nice deep blue color. Matches great with the blue LED on the power supply unit. Since I am basically just using the digital outs, I added a 1:1 pulse transformer and BNC connector. The analog stage has new Neutrix connectors, but otherwise stock Notice the extensive shielding of the display area. I am also using ERS (RFI/EMI reducing sheets) material liberally inside the case of both main unit and power supply. New IXYS HEXFRED diodes were added to the PS unit, along with a Auricap film bypass for the smoothing capacitors. The power connection is via high quality XLR Neutrix connections. I custom made a cable using Neutrix connectors and silver teflon wiring. A couple of TDK ferrite snap-in cores were added to the cable. This thing is sounding fantastic.
