Our son will be 2 in July, and we haven't had any problems with my floorstanders (Paradigm Monitor 7). They're pretty heavy though, very deep, and rather wide, as well as sitting on carpet spikes. My rear speakers are bookshelves on very tall stands, and those were a big problem. I never did find a good solution, but he eventually learned not to touch them. It helped a lot that they are up against the wall, unlike when they were my fronts.
I'd either buy, or build, hollow stands, and fill them with gravel or perhaps kitty litter. For shorter stands, I'd probably also fasten the speakers to the stands. In my case, the speakers themselves were never an issue, other than stability when shaking the stands, since the stands are so tall (IOW, he never touched the speakers). I came pretty close to just shooting some screws through the base of the stands, but wanted to avoid damaging the hardwood floors hidden under the carpet. Struts, attached to the wall, were the next option, but he stopped messing with them. -- GlennT ------------------------------------------------------------------------ GlennT's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10243 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35325 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
