The SB3 does not output 24/96 rather it drops every other sample to output 24/48. So the files play correctly but you lose out on quality. The Transporter does play and output 24/96. I know this because my DAC (Audio Synthesis DAX Discrete) displays the input sample rate and then upsamples to 706k. The SB3 shows 48k and my (new) Transporter shows 96k when playing the same 24/96 music files. As regards sound quality the SB3 through the DAX sounds remarkably good but the Transporter via the DAX is sublime. I have done needle drops of a lot of my vinyl at 24/96 and in a blind test you cannot tell whether it is the vinyl or the FLAC file playing. Listen carefully and there is a slight loss of 'air' but other than that it sounds damn good. As to finding 24/96 music it is a case of making it yourself from vinyl rips or finding a Tracker that specialises in it. -- Heuer ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Heuer's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2543 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=35357 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
