I think I would seriously consider it if I was designing a network music player. The main part of the player could actually output a stream at the native sampling frequency of the stream, which would then be converted by the ASRC chip to the sampling frequency of the DAC. This has two big advantages:
1. It's a relatively inexpensive hardware replacement for the CPU power that would otherwise be required. 2. Sampling Rate Conversion algorithms are tricky to get right. This is an inexpensive way of getting a very high quality conversion. Benchmark apparently exploited the ASRC chip in their DAC1 by running the DAC chip at what they claim is it's "sweet spot", arround 110 KHz.
