About 20 years ago, I used to be in the business, working for a
boutique, high-end retailer. This gave me an endless supply of new
toys to test, tinker with -- and sometimes -- buy, at dealer cost. It
was a fun job for a while, but ultimately, I soured on the hobby by
making it my vocation and my interest in audio fizzled. There was even
a period when my system, packed in boxes, sat dormant for 4-5 years.

Like you, there was a spark that re-ignited my interest. For me, it
was home theater. That, in turn, pointed out the need to update a
system that had earned "vintage equipment" status.

And so about two years ago, I got the hifi bug again. Since then, my
system has been constantly evolving, with components of my old system
comprising a smaller and smaller percentage of my active equipment
list.

I think the SB and new DAC have helped close the loop on upgrading my
digital front end... for the moment ;-). A few more relatively minor
investments remain, and then I'll be cured of upgrade-itis for a while.
At which point, I'm sure I'll reapportion those available funds to
another hobby!
