Well, not a tweak as such, but something to check: switch bit-rate limiting off.
As for a generic tweak, one of the best by far for me was moving all the components behind my listening seat. I guess this is easier in a dedicated listening room. (The speaker cable runs under my seat.) Try placing your head between the speakers where the components normally sit, whilst playing something loud, and all will become clear. For me, the difference was stark.
