I'm not sure if there is an easy solution here, but here's a question: do you have Transporter's volume turned way down during normal listening with this setup? If so that is a bad idea for a lot of reasons - you should be using some fixed analog attenuation to bring the level down to to your maximum desired listening range. Doing so will also probably prevent it from triggering the protection circuit.
