Replaygain is great for casual listening/background/parties - but I too turn it off for really serious listening (ie loudly when people are out) but actually I am convinced it doesn't make that much difference - maybe none. To be honest I don't hear a difference in quality. Try it and see. We've been over this endlessly - the digital level control in the SB/TP is 24-bit and is a high qulaity implementation.
