I recently bought a Transporter and connected the balanced output into Active ATC 100 speakers.
I am worried that I have damaged the speakers.. Despite following all instructions, I could not get the volume control on the Transporter to operate at all. This meant that, momentarily, the full output went into the speakers.Other front panel controls were also inoperative, so perhaps I was just unlucky with this unit. I have returned the Transporter as faulty and received a refund, but am now reluctant to buy a replacement having read the threads about the need for attenuation. As the balanced outputs don't allow attenuation it all seems to be getting far too complicated! My idea was to have a simple signal path, but I am now wondering if I will have to introduce a preamp, especially, as I will eventually need a phono stage. Will a high quality preamp ( eg ATC SCA2) be a sensible option or will it just degrade the signal? -- iwalker ------------------------------------------------------------------------ iwalker's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13004 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34484 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
