I want a SB to replace my CD-player, but can the SB3 compete soundwise with your typical 1000$ CD-player when it comes down to sheer sound quality? How is the depth and width of the soundstage? Can I really enjoy acoustic music and rock music without listening to the hiss of sibilants and flat midrange? My setup is Stereophile Class A so I am a bit picky, but the Transporter is too costly for me at the moment.
Do I need an external DAC to really get things going?
