I would consider the performance of the SB3 (using lossless compressed files) to be worthy of an audiophile system. I have 5 SB3's right now with two of them driving external DAC's (Stello and PS Audio). The SB3 that I listen to daily is one I have plugged directly into a Lehmann headphone amp driving Grado SR-60 headphones. This simple system gives incredible musical pleasure considering the modest investment.
