Adapters that converted S/PDIF signals to USB in *both* directions, would be helpful for other reasons too. For instance, it would allow users to send their digital source into a PC for applying pro-audio digital FX plugins (DirectX, VST varieties) in the digital domain, using a basic plugin host like Chainer or FFX i.o.p., without needing to install any internal sound card...
