What new formats? There won't be any. The industry has played with
hi-res formats in DVDA and SACD, and they have failed (OK, there -are
-a fair few SACDs of classical music). AFAIK there are no agreed
standards for hi-res lossless formats on these new discs, just lots of
ways of putting many surround channels in.

If you wait to see what happens when hi-res is widely available on
disc, I suspect you will be waiting a long time!

The only conceivable solution is hi-res downloads, such as provided by
Linn and HDTT. These will be in PCM format, and the Transporter plays
them already. The only reason to wait (format wise) is for the vague
possibility of 24/192 playback, which the TP does not do (ATM). Is it
really worth waiting for something that is decidedly unlikely to have
an audible difference?

There was a thread recently in which Sean hinted that it may be
feasible to get the TP to decode SACD, but as there is no way to rip
SACDs (without rather serious hardware hacks) and no downloads
available, it ain't gonna happen.
