Timbo What Im about to suggest probably isnt state of the art in this digital world we live in but you could try buying a second hand 557 and Bi-amping.
I have a system with the same components as you and made this upgrade a few years back with absolutely stunning results. Depending on your speakers this would probably present a far more cost-effective upgrade than a pair of DSP speakers. I've also thought about upgrading to DSP's in the past but wasn't impressed with the sound of the 5000's compared to my analogue system. The manual that came with the 557 explains how to do the bi-amping avoid bridging the amps as you get loads of power but little in the way of openness.
