I had an adaptor cable lying around (funnily enough I'd been sorting out my exhastive and slightly disturbing cable collection at the weekend) and there is a definite improvement over the headphone socket. Not quite as warm as my A300 but certainly adequate enough to prevent a music-less move (which would have made the whole experience more stressful).
