You're quite simply wrong that this goes against what has been learned
in the last 60 years.  Have you ever read a peer-reviewed scientific
paper in the field of acoustics engineering or psychoacoustics?  Even
if you haven't, are you familiar with at least the bare-bones results? 
If not, please don't bother to comment on the state of technical
knowledge.

As for manufacturers, I don't think most of them are "corrupt lierers".
I think they genuinely believe in their products.  Many people
genuinely believe in ghosts, too.  A few of them (slimdevices/logitech,
for example) actually back up their claims with measurements.

Personally I try to avoid buying from any company that markets high-end
cables, as I consider that to be out-and-out fraud, but speakers and
amps certainly differ, and to a lesser extent CD players and DACs.  And
sometimes I just want something nice to look at - I had a beautiful
tubed pre (using "good" NOS tubes no less) for a while, because I liked
how it looked.
