You're quite simply wrong that this goes against what has been learned in the last 60 years. Have you ever read a peer-reviewed scientific paper in the field of acoustics engineering or psychoacoustics? Even if you haven't, are you familiar with at least the bare-bones results? If not, please don't bother to comment on the state of technical knowledge. As for manufacturers, I don't think most of them are "corrupt lierers". I think they genuinely believe in their products. Many people genuinely believe in ghosts, too. A few of them (slimdevices/logitech, for example) actually back up their claims with measurements. Personally I try to avoid buying from any company that markets high-end cables, as I consider that to be out-and-out fraud, but speakers and amps certainly differ, and to a lesser extent CD players and DACs. And sometimes I just want something nice to look at - I had a beautiful tubed pre (using "good" NOS tubes no less) for a while, because I liked how it looked. -- opaqueice ------------------------------------------------------------------------ opaqueice's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4234 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=39093 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
